Can Medicare Part D beneficiaries order medication in bulk because of COVID-19?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, federal health officials have recommended people stock up on the prescription medication they take regularly to manage chronic conditions. The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act makes it easier for Medicare Part D beneficiaries to do this.
While in the past, beneficiaries would be limited to 30-day supplies, the CARES Act now allows people with Part D plans to purchase a 90-day supply of covered medications when they request it. Call your healthcare provider to inquire how you can take advantage of this to reduce your visits to the provider’s office or your local pharmacy.
